Our ceilidhs

Our philosophy

When you book us for a ceilidh, you can expect a reliable, friendly and professional service … and a great night! We believe that ceilidh dancing is a fun social activity for all ages and abilities, and it’s our job to make it as easy as possible for you and your guests to join in.

We’ll play great tunes that make you want to dance, and we’ll respond to your guests and pick dances that we think they will enjoy. We also recognise that some of your guests may prefer to sit and watch, and that’s fine. If everyone is enjoying themselves, then we’re getting it right!

The dances

No experience is necessary. We cater for absolute beginners as well as more experienced ceilidh dancers and our caller Julie-Ann will keep everyone on track with clear instructions, demonstrations and a sprinkling of good humour!

If you want the kind of ceilidh where everyone is swinging their partners, galloping down the room and making arches, we’ve got plenty of dances that will make sure you and your guests have fun. If you’re looking for something more sedate, with plenty of couple dances and classics like the Gay Gordons or the Dashing White Sergeant, we can do that too.

The Miggins Fiddle Ceilidh Band managed to get everyone dancing from little kids to grandparents, with the caller giving clear instructions, walk throughs and demonstration where needed. You gave us a nice variety of dances: a good mix of the sedate-paced and the more lively and challenging

The music

We are experienced folk musicians and we play traditional tunes on fiddle, guitar and piano. Our repertoire includes music from Northumberland alongside favourites from around the British Isles.

You can hear some of the tunes we have selected by visiting our Band page.
